Nutfield Publishing Editor Leslie O’Donnell received first place in the National Federation of Press Women’s (NFPW) 2009 Communications Contest in the category of non-daily newspaper publications regularly edited by entrant, for her work as editor of the Nutfield News. She received the award from NFPW President Marsha Shuler of Louisiana at the Communications Contest banquet, held at the organization’s annual conference in San Antonio, Texas on Sept. 12. The judge’s comments describe the Nutfield News as “a good mix of hard news, features, sports and photos. Your staffers must work pretty hard to produce this much original copy on a weekly basis. Keep up the good work.” O’Donnell has been the editor of Nutfield Publishing’s three newspapers - the Londonderry Times, Nutfield News, and Tri-Town Times - for 2-1/2 years. _____________________ Nutfield News Article Wins National Award For the second year in a row, Nutfield Publishing editor Leslie O'Donnell has received an award in the Suburban Newspapers of America Editorial Contest. She received a second place in the 2008 contest's Best Arts and Entertainment Writing - Feature category for an article she wrote in the Nutfield News titled "Art and Friendship Go Hand in Hand for Derry Area Artists." O'Donnell is editor of Nutfield Publishing's three newspapers - Londonderry Times, Nutfield News and Tri-Town Times. The contest winners were announced at the SNA Spring Publishers' Conference last week in Tampa, Fla. Judging of the thousands of entries was done by the Journalism Department faculty of Loyola University Chicago. _____________________
Nutfield News Recognized for The Nutfield News received third place in the 2008 Vic Jose General Excellence Awards, presented recently at the Independent Free Papers of America conference in Seattle, Wash. Nutfield News covers the town of Derry, and has been in operation for four years. It is part of the Londonderry-based Nutfield Publishing, which also publishes the Londonderry Times and the Tri-Town Times and is owned by Deb and Chris Paul. The general excellence award evaluates newspapers on appearance and photography as well as content. Leslie O'Donnell is editor of all three Nutfield Publishing newspapers. _____________________ Editor Wins National Award Nutfield Publishing editor Leslie O’Donnell recently received a first-place award in the Best Editorial Writing category of the 2007 Suburban Newspapers of America Editorial Contest. The award was presented last month at the Spring Publishers’ Conference in Florida. O’Donnell’s winning collection of three editorials were “Change the Tune,” written about the arguments among Derry town councilors; “They Shoot Goats, Don’t They?” written about last year’s incidents of Londonderry police shooting wandering goats; and “Now’s the Time,” concerning the need for towns to establish an ethics commission. _____________________ Nutfield Publishing received two awards at last week’s Independent Free Papers of America (IFPA) editorial contest. _____________________
